How it is calculated

Use the same set of posts.

We add the likes and comments on the posts you enter, divide by the number of posts to get the average per post, then divide by your followers and multiply by 100. It is the formula behind the published figures beside it; saves, shares and views are not counted.

Format & hook

Compare similar formats. The opening and the content give people different reasons to respond.

Timing & replies

Use a consistent set of posts. Allow time for people to watch and respond.

Niche & fit

An engagement rate cannot tell a brand whether the work fits its brief. Look at the portfolio too.

Before your first collab

Know what the rate can tell you.

What is a good engagement rate?

It depends on the method, audience size, niche and format. Use a sourced figure with the same formula for context. A rate does not promise reach or sales.

Do you store my numbers?

No. The calculation runs in this browser from the numbers you type. It does not look up an account or send your inputs.

Can I compare Instagram and YouTube rates?

These formulas use different denominators. Instagram uses followers and an average per post. YouTube uses views of the videos entered.
