How to find trending topics for your content

4 min read · Updated

To find trending topics, compare public attention signals with the questions your audience asks. Open the original source, check the period and location, and work out why the subject is being discussed. Choose a topic only when you can add something accurate and relevant.

Begin with the audience and a research question

Write down the subject you cover, the language you use and the people you want to help. A Marathi food creator researching seasonal cooking needs a different search from a business making product tutorials.

Keep a record of unanswered questions from your own content. Remove personal details from that record. These questions give your research a purpose and help you avoid choosing a topic solely because its headline looks busy.

Compare sources without blending their meaning

Google Trending now concerns rising search interest. A popular video list concerns videos, while Wikimedia's country pageview tools concern reading activity. When several sources agree, look closer; it still does not prove people want to buy.

On Influcius Trends, check the credited Google Trends Trending now India, YouTube most-popular India and Wikipedia most-read India sections. The page refreshes four times a day. A refresh does not mean each source measures the same period, so retain the displayed dates in your notes.

Follow a topic back to its origin

Read beyond a headline. Find the original announcement, document or explanation. Check whether an older story has resurfaced, whether a claim has been corrected and whether the location matters.

If a topic concerns safety or someone's private life, consider whether you should cover it at all. Avoid turning an unverified allegation into a product joke. You can record an evergreen explanation instead while a developing story remains uncertain.

Inspect Reels in the app itself

Instagram research takes place inside Instagram. Tap the audio name on a relevant Reel, inspect the audio page and explore any trend section your account shows. Meta's Reels guidance describes in-app discovery; follow the controls currently available to you.

Influcius does not publish Instagram trending audio or hashtag lists. Seeing a sound in the app also does not settle music rights for a sponsored post or advertisement. Confirm the intended use before you build an edit around it.

Decide what the idea will cost to produce

Estimate research, filming, editing and review effort before committing. A timely explanation might suit a phone recording, while a location story may involve travel, permissions and another contributor. Regional subtitles require someone who can check their meaning.

When hiring help, specify those tasks and request a quote in rupees. Set a point at which you will drop the idea if facts remain unresolved or the conversation has moved on. Speed should not remove your factual review.

Keep a usable research record

Note What to record
Question What the viewer needs to understand
Evidence Original source, location and date
Angle What you can add from your own work
Production Footage, permissions and review needed
Decision Make it, investigate further or leave it

Revisit this record after publishing. Note questions that remain and corrections you had to make. Judge the research method across relevant posts, without turning an isolated response into a claim about the algorithm.

Use research in your creator work

List your profile on Influcius after signing up and proving ownership of your Instagram or YouTube account. Describe the subjects and formats in your Offerings with work that demonstrates them.

When a brand posts a requirement, a clear proposed angle helps explain your fit. Keep the pitch specific about what you will create, the evidence you need and the usage being quoted. Research prepares a proposal; the brand still decides whether to respond.

Questions, answered.

What does a trend finder tell me?

It can point to activity measured by its sources. Check whether that activity means searches, video popularity or article reading before using it to plan a post.

How do I find trending audio on Instagram?

In Instagram, open relevant Reels and tap the audio name. Inspect the audio page and any trend tools your account displays, then check whether the audio is permitted for your use.

Can a trend searcher predict my next viral post?

No. Use trends to form ideas, then assess relevance, accuracy and production effort. Future reach cannot be promised from a topic's current popularity.
