Build an influencer campaign plan

3 min read · Updated

An influencer campaign plan records who you want to reach, what creators will make, the budget, rights, approval stages and how you will assess the result. Start with a business objective and work backwards to a practical brief. Agree deliverables without treating views, virality or sales as promises.

Define the objective and audience

Choose the question the campaign should answer. You might want to explain a new product, introduce a store or create content for your own channels. Those goals require different formats and measurement.

Describe the customer in useful terms: location, language, interest and the problem the product addresses. For a festive launch in Surat, decide whether the audience is local shoppers or people ordering elsewhere. Record what you know and what needs testing instead of presenting assumptions as research.

Decide what needs to be made

List the deliverables, publishing channels and files you need. Distinguish content delivered to the brand from posts published by a creator. Identify any location visit, product test, voice-over or supporting photography.

Choose creators using relevant work and the scope they can accept. A campaign involving several languages may need different treatments rather than translated copies of the same script. Allow each creator to explain the product in a way that fits their normal content.

Build the budget before outreach

Account for the creator's production and publication fees, travel, shipping, styling, editing and requested rights. Keep platform charges in a separate line. Put the budget in rupees and ask creators to describe applicable taxes and exclusions in their quotes.

Choose what is essential before negotiating. Extra cutdowns, exclusivity or advertising use can widen the scope even when they sound like small additions. Agree what triggers a revised quote and which person can approve that change.

Plan production, approval and disclosure

Work back from the intended publishing window. Confirm product readiness, delivery, recording, factual review and final approval stages. For Diwali or a seasonal sale, leave room for an unavailable product or a changed launch date without promising a fixed turnaround.

Give creators a claim sheet with supporting facts. Name the person who checks it and set feedback arrangements. Under ASCI's influencer guidelines, both brand and creator have disclosure responsibilities.

Record permitted reuse, channels, duration, editing rights and paid advertising use. Agree payment stages, cancellation and a way to handle disagreements. A clear change process is easier to follow than a brief that keeps growing in messages.

Use this campaign checklist

  • Objective and intended customer are written down.
  • Deliverables and publishing responsibilities are accepted.
  • Budget covers rights, logistics and platform charges.
  • Approval and disclosure owners are named.
  • Reporting sources and periods are agreed.

Choose measurement that fits the objective. For a product explanation, review whether the content answered the intended questions. For enquiries, agree how they will be recorded. Keep organic and paid results distinguishable, and report unavailable information as unavailable.

Move the plan onto Influcius

Use the free brief builder to prepare a clearer description, then post a requirement from a brand account. Discover can help you compare creators by niche, language, platform and city. Read Offerings and official figures with their dates and sources before contacting someone.

Settle the brief through messages. Following the creator's reply, a brand can pay the booking fee, after which contact details entered in that conversation display as written. No saved profile field is automatically disclosed. Keep the accepted plan with your agreement and pay the creator directly for their work.

Questions, answered.

What belongs in an influencer campaign plan?

Include the objective, audience, deliverables, creator criteria, budget, schedule, claims, disclosure, usage rights, approvals and reporting method.

How far ahead should I plan a festival campaign?

Work backwards from the intended publication stage and confirm creator availability, product shipping, production and feedback time. There is no universal lead time.

Should every creator receive the same script?

Keep product facts and required disclosures consistent. Let creators propose treatments suited to their own format and audience.

How do I measure the campaign?

Choose the question first, then the metric, source and reporting period. Separate content delivery from reach, enquiries or sales outcomes.
